  3. Enlisting the debt-defaulters in the form of a written publication is prohibited. (Unless a Credit Bureau asks for the list.)
  4. Using profanity or obscene or abusive language on a telephonic call or with a person is unlawful.
  5. Making repeated phone calls with the purpose of harrowing a person is not allowed.
  6. The Debt-Collector in no way can directly or indirectly imply that the debtor is a criminal if he has not repaid the debt.
  7. Identification of debtors in public or open declaration of their debt when the debtors are called is not permissible.
  8. Misrepresentation of the debt amount is not acceptable.
  9. Debt-collectors cannot threaten to detain or arrest the debtor if debt is not paid.
  10. No false statements should be used while debt-collection by the debt-collectors.
  11. Debt-Collectors cannot contact the debtor on the pretext of being government representatives or attorneys.
  12. False representation by debt-collectors that they manage, work, function or operate on behalf of a credit bureau is disallowed.
  13. Misrepresentation that an attorney is involved in collection of debt is not given consent to.
  14. Debt-Collectors cannot threaten the debtor with legal action or court cases, which lawfully cannot be done, in order to get back the debt amount.
  15. They cannot suggest that the paperwork sent to the debtor is legal if it is not and they also cannot send legal papers without prior intimation.
  16. Debt-Collectors are not permitted to either seize or garnish or sell or attach the debtor’s income or earnings, property or possessions.
